Autor: Dr. K.Grabinski , Dr. G. Rahn, R. Mimura

On 19 September 2007, Hoffmann · Eitle was given the opportunity to contribute its expertise and experience at an international symposium on "Patent Litigation in Germany and Japan" organized by JIPA, JPAA and AIPPI in Tokyo, Japan.

The Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA), the Japan Patent Attorney Association (JPAA) and the Japanese Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) as joint hosts invited the following gentlemen to explain practical aspects of litigation proceedings by comparing the German and Japanese patent litigation systems:

- presiding judge Dr. Klaus Grabinski of the Regional Court Düsseldorf, which handles the largest number of the patent infringement lawsuits in Germany,

- attorney-at-law Dr. Guntram Rahn, partner of Hoffmann · Eitle and head of its legal department, who has abundant experience in patent disputes as legal counsel for numerous companies, including Japanese companies,

- judge Ryoichi Mimura of the Intellectual Property High Court, who has profound knowledge of patent jurisdiction in Japan and Germany.

The lecture notes are now available from AIPPI Japan on their webpage, using the following link (in Japanese only):
